Master’s programmes

At the TU Darmstadt two Master’s programmes are offered: The German-taught study programme is divided into three different fields of study, which allow to specialise in favourite disciplines. The English-instructed study programme Mathematics offers additionally the opportunity to choose a third mathematical specialisation to round off the professional profile.

Students on the Master’s programme in Frankfurt build on the skills learned in the Bachelor’s programme by acquiring the knowledge of the main mathematical disciplines, their methodological approaches and their interrelations;  an insight into up-to-date research results and the significance of these; and the ability to deal with a comprehensive mathematical task independently in a Master thesis.

The objective of the Master’s programme in Heidelberg is to expand and improve the basic knowledge of mathematics with the aim of enabling students to gain insights into current research. Graduates of the Master’s degree are able to apply and independently develop mathematical methods and models as well as to autonomously conduct scientific work and analyse/ solve problems.

The study of Mathematics in Mainz covers areas of both pure and applied Mathematics and is characterized by a wealth of specialization options, ensuring a well-balanced mix of practical relevance and intellectual depth. The Master’s programme aims to impart advanced scientific knowledge and develop the ability to independently unfold scientific principles and apply scientific methods and findings.
