Guidelines

The Excellence Track in Algebra (ETA) serves as an extension of the Master programs in Mathematics at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Goethe University Frankfurt, Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg, and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

To successfully complete the Excellence Track, students must participate in a total of three additional lectures or seminars in Algebra during their two-year Master program. Any lecture or seminar listed on this webpage is eligible, provided it does not already count toward the Master degree requirements. In other words, these courses must be taken in addition to the standard curriculum of the Master program.

Taking an exam is not required to complete an ETA course. However, the course instructor must sign a form for active participation. Typically, students approach the instructor toward the end of the course to obtain a signature as proof of participation. It can, however, be beneficial to inform the instructor at the beginning of the course, ensuring awareness of enrollment in the ETA. While no formal exam is required to complete a course, regular attendance in lectures and delivering a presentation in a seminar are common expectations.

Additionally, participation in the Algebra retreat is highly recommended. This retreat offers an opportunity to explore a current research topic in Algebra and connect with peers from all ETA locations. While optional, it is strongly encouraged as an academic and networking experience.
