ETA Events & Workshops

Are you interested in mathematics beyond your regular lectures and curious about what current research looks like?

The Excellence Track offers events where you can meet researchers, ask questions, and get a first impression of what working in academic research is like.

Through workshops, talks, and informal gatherings, you can connect with researchers from the CRC GAUS and with other students. You will learn more about master’s theses, PhD studies, and everyday life in research while building your first connections within the RMU region.

ETA @ CRC GAUS Colloquium 07.05.2026

When: Thursday, May 7, 2026
Where: TU Darmstadt

On the occasion of the CRC GAUS Colloquium on May 7, we warmly invite all participants of the ETA to Darmstadt.

In preparation for the colloquium, you will work in teams of two or three on selected aspects of the two colloquium talks. In the morning, each group will present their results to the other participants in a short presentation of about 15 minutes. The goal is mainly to develop an intuitive understanding of the topic, so the presentations should not be overly formal or technical. Afterwards, there will be time for discussion and questions, giving everyone the chance to engage more deeply with the topics and get even more out of the colloquium talks later in the day.

During a joint lunch with PhD students, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions about doctoral studies and everyday academic life in a relaxed setting.

In the afternoon, you will attend the CRC GAUS Colloquium together with GAUS members from all participating universities. This is a great opportunity to meet researchers and PhD students from across the RMU region and to make connections beyond your own university.

Those who wish are welcome to end the day with a joint dinner together with GAUS members. For participants coming from outside Darmstadt, there is also the option to stay overnight at the youth hostel.
